Hi @karolm201

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

I’m sorry to hear your HP laptop is stuck at 5% charging—it can be really frustrating! Here are a few things you can try:

Check the Battery Health: Sometimes, the battery might be failing. You can run a battery test through HP Support Assistant or access the BIOS to check battery health. Please check this link, Click HERE

Remove the Battery: If your laptop has a removable battery, try taking it out and then holding the power button for about 15 seconds. After that, put the battery back in and try charging again.

Reset Power Settings: Go to the power settings in Windows and reset them to default. Sometimes, a power configuration issue can cause charging problems.

Try a Different Outlet: Make sure the outlet you’re using is functioning properly. Plugging the charger into a different outlet can help rule out any electrical issues.

Leave It Plugged In: Sometimes, it takes a while for the battery to start charging, especially if it’s deeply discharged. Leave it plugged in for a while and see if it begins to charge.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
