Hi @Nobhay,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the "CMOS Reset (502)" error typically indicates that the CMOS battery (which stores BIOS settings) may be failing or that there's a problem with the BIOS configuration.
Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and fix this issue:
1. Perform a Hard Reset:
- Shut down your laptop completely.
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
- Unplug the power adapter.
- Remove the battery (if it's removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter.
- Power on the laptop.
2. Check BIOS Settings:
- Restart your laptop and enter BIOS setup (usually by pressing Esc, F2, or Del during startup).
- Look for an option to load default settings or optimized defaults. This will reset any incorrect BIOS settings.
- Save and exit the BIOS.
3. Replace CMOS Battery:
- If the problem persists, the CMOS battery might need to be replaced. This is more common in laptops where the CMOS battery is soldered or integrated into the motherboard. Replacing it might require professional service if you're not comfortable doing it yourself.
4. Update BIOS:
- Go to the HP Support website and check if there is a BIOS update available for your laptop model.
- Download and follow the instructions to update the BIOS. Ensure you follow the instructions carefully to avoid potential issues during the update process.
5. Check for Hardware Issues: HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
- Ensure that the laptop's internal components (like RAM and storage) are properly seated. Sometimes loose connections can cause similar issues.

HP PCs - 500, 501, or 502 error displays on a black screen
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
