Since 1 year, my desktop z1 need many minutes to boot. Sometimes up to 3 hours (180 minutes). The screen with "protected by HP sure start" appears and I can wait and wait.

Sometimes, after a Windows update it is better. Sometimes after a bios update it is better.

Yesterday, hp asked if I want to send all my private info to HP for a extended warranty and I said no. Now I am waiting since 5 hours and it is still booting up...

What can I do?

Hi @AdrianoGG,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing such long boot times with your HP Z1 desktop. It sounds like the issue may be related to the HP Sure Start feature, which is intended to protect your system's BIOS. Here are some steps you can take to address the boot delay problem:

Steps to Resolve Boot Delay on HP Z1 Desktop:

  1. BIOS Update:
  2. Ensure your BIOS is up to date, as newer versions might resolve boot issues. To update your BIOS, you can visit HP Support and enter your product's details to find the latest BIOS updates.
  3. Download the relevant BIOS update and follow on-screen instructions to install it.

  4. Check for Windows Updates:

  5. Make sure that the latest Windows updates are installed, as these updates often contain important fixes and improvements.

  6. HP Sure Start Feature:

  7. The HP Sure Start feature performs initial checks at boot time. Check if adjusting related settings in the BIOS can alleviate the delay (though specifics may vary depending on your system's edition).

  8. Avoid Sharing Sensitive Information:

  9. Be cautious about any requests to share private information. Genuine warranty or support requests should not require unnecessary private data.
