Hi everyone,

I'm facing an issue with my HP laptop. While installing a Windows update, the laptop got stuck. After restarting, it only shows the HP logo and doesn't boot any further. It stays on the logo screen indefinitely.

So far, I've tried:

  • Running the HP hardware diagnostics – all tests passed, and no hardware issues were found.

  • Restoring the BIOS to its default settings.

Despite this, the laptop still won't boot past the HP logo.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Is there anything else I can try to fix it without losing my data? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Do you have Windows bootable USB?

TL;DR: This probably is not a hardware issue, doing BIOS stuff wouldnt do much.

The update likely corrupted the bootloader while installing.

Try this:

  1. Turn the laptop off

  2. Turn it on and immediately press F11 repeatedly

  3. This should open Windows Recovery

  4. Choose Advanced Options

  5. Run Startup Repair

  6. If Startup Repair fails, go back to Advanced Options and choose System Restore

If F11 does not open recovery, try this:

  1. Turn the laptop off

  2. Turn it on and hold the power button to force it off again

  3. Repeat this two or three times

  4. Windows should automatically enter recovery mode

This issue is caused by Windows update failing mid‑install. It is not a hardware problem and your data should still be intact.
