Touchsmart All In One 610-1100UK.

Under load, sometimes only relatively moderate load, the fan ramps up, and after some time the system powers off.

There are no entries in Event Viewer apart from 6008 - "The previous system shutdown was unexpected".

I suspect the issue is overheating.

I have cleaned the fan, vents etc, and removed all traces of dust, but this has not resolved the issue.

Any suggestions how to resolve this?

Hi @daveiw100,

I understand your HP TouchSmart All-in-One 610-1100UK unexpectedly powers off under moderate load, even after cleaning the fan and vents. Let’s go through a few steps to identify and resolve the issue.

a. Check Power Source

Ensure the wall outlet and power cord are working properly by testing with another device.

Avoid using surge protectors or extension cords temporarily to rule out power fluctuations.

b. Monitor Temperatures

Use a system monitoring tool (like HWMonitor, Core Temp, or Speccy) to check CPU and GPU temperatures under load.

If temperatures exceed ~90°C for CPU/GPU, the system may shut down to protect itself.

c. Verify Fan Operation

Even after cleaning, confirm the fan spins freely and reaches adequate RPM under load.

Check for fan failure or inconsistent speeds, as this can cause overheating shutdowns.

d. Reseat Components

Power off and unplug the system.

Reseat RAM modules and any removable internal cards to ensure solid connections.

Loose components can sometimes cause sudden shutdowns under load.

e. Check Thermal Paste & Heatsinks

If the system is still shutting down under moderate load, old or degraded thermal paste on the CPU/GPU may be the culprit.

Consider reapplying high-quality thermal paste between the CPU/GPU and heatsink.

f. Update BIOS and Drivers

Go to HP Support → Enter product number → Download the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.

Some unexpected shutdowns can be related to power management or thermal control in BIOS.

g. Run Hardware Diagnostics

Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) to run CPU, memory, and system tests to rule out failing hardware.

Pay attention to any errors reported under load tests.

I hope this helps.

Hi Kuroi_Kenshi,

thanks for your response.

i installed HW Monitor, and this confirmed that the temp increase was the issue.

i cleaned and checked fan operation, and cleaned vents.

however, I discovered that the fins on the heat sink were clogged with dust (hadn’t previously noticed this)

I cleaned the heat sink fins, and have tested the system with high CPU load.
Temp remains at an acceptable level, so I believe the issue is now resolved

thanks for your help
