I wanted to add a SSD Sata drive as boot drive to my new desktop. Had the drive all setup using a USB enclosure. The system boots up fine in the USB enclosure. Removed the drive and installed in computer. Won't boot. I go to boot menu and select the drive still won't boot. I use Windows RE to try and make repair, can't find drive? Try SATA 1, 2 and 3. Still can't find drive. Removed nvme drive in case there was a conflict or interfering, still no boot. Put back in enclosure, boots fine.

And you need to get into BIOS Setup to set it to EFI/UEFI boot mode. Otherwise, you cannot boot from the SSD unless it has been converted to MBR disk. If the SSD is an MBR disk, then you need to set the boot mode to Legacy.
