I purchased a HP TP01-3016 desktop with plans to upgrade it in the future. Every single upgrade so far has been effortless and easy. I know HP products have a lot of proprietary parts that have to be used instead of the masses. Everyone I checked, even in the manual it said the system supports up to 32 GB (unbuffered) with two 16 GB DIMMs on 64-bit systems. So doing my research I purchased a set of ram - Crucial DDR4 32GB 2X16GB 3200 Mhz PC4-25600 288pins Desktop Memory Dimm Ram. Everyone on the internet says this set is compatible. Side note I did buy these rams brand new. I put both of them in the system and I get the 3 long beeps and 2 short beeps. I tried only using one on both slots and I did that for both. Same result every time. I put back in my 16gb ram stick and it worked just fine. Is there something I’m missing? I also tried to update BIOS but it says I have Version F.32 and it keeps telling me the version of bios I’m trying to download is older and may cause compatibility issues. Could someone help me understand what I’m missing? Thank you so much! 🙏🏽

Greetings @Yozo_345

Welcome to the HP Forum. Sawadee Krap 🙏(Hello)!

I cannot locate a specific HP TP01-3016 product number. I reviewed a small sample size of HP TP01-3xxx PCs. All of the TP01-3xxx PCs I reviewed have the Reno MB.

The Reno MB supports 32 GB (2 x16GBs) memory capacity.

Compatible memory recommended by Crucial should work if you used the correct HP PC product number at Crucial.com.

Very strange you could not get either Crucial memory module working, one at a time, in each memory slot. But the HP factory memory works when reinstalled in the MB after a failed Crucial memory installation.

Also very unusual to see two possible bad memory modules in a kit but anything is possible.

You might have to contact Crucial Memory. It would be interesting if you could try the Crucial memory in a second compatible Intel MB. A local PC Tech should be able  to check the Crucial memory.

I can't comment on the BIOS update. I can't find your specific HP PC; I can't verify if the Reno MB is installed in your PC.

@Yozo_345,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Your HP Pavilion TP01-3016 (577M9AA) is fitted with the Reno motherboard (SSID: 89B5) and is very similar to one of my upgrade projects, an HP Pavilion TP01-3003w.

The 2x16GB DDR4 PC4-25600, 3200 MH, Non-ECC, UDIMM, 288-pin RAM kit I use for my TP01 is the Timetec RAM option, and it works very well indeed -see my RAM performance score (108%) via Userbenchmark: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/69611913.

I am not sure why the Crucial RAM failed, but the TP01 platforms are known to be finnicky -for example, no matter what I tried, I could not get an RTX 5070 to work in it, whilst it did work in an older HP Pavilion 590-p0030 -figure that.

I hope you can return the Crucial RAM to get your money back and try out the Timetec RAM. Purchase it via an eCommerce site that would make returning RAM easy if necessary, such as Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QRVNB26?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_4&th=1.

And btw, the AMI F.32 (3/20/25) BIOS is indeed the most recent version, and runs well on my platform, so that should not be an issue.

Kind Regards,
