I have downloaded the bios update file and try to run it normally (as an administrator also). Then when i get the options I just do Update (Restart Required). The laptop restarts and into the BIOS screen shows initializing then suddenly, The System BIOS Update failed. Unable to open BIOS Image file.
I currently have the BIOS version F.36 but I am trying to update to F.48 because I am having BSOD from time to time. I just can't update my BIOS.
 Help!!!

If you are having any type of OS or hardware problem do not try to update the BIOS as the image may become corrupted and ruin the laptop.

Can you pass diagnostics?

Check to see if there is a hardware problem: Watch this video.

Tap the ESC key after powering on. Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics.

If a component fails during the UEFI test then Click here to check warranty

Did the HP support assistant recommend a bios update?

If the BIOS update came in with a windows update then do not update as Microsoft may have send the wrong bios (yes, this can happen).

What is your product ID or model?
