Outage code: Oxc000021a"

This is the message I get afterwards the PC tries to do an automatic restore and then asks me to restart it, it tells me that the PC has not been booted correctly, so I have tried doing a UEFI diagnostic, there are no reported problems I have tried uninstalling the last updates made, I have tried the option to fix the problems that prevent Windows from loading. Despite this nothing seems to work, all this happened after I did the last Windows update.

Hi @Pozzersara1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0xc000021a is typically related to a system corruption or a failure in the Windows environment, especially after a Windows update. It suggests that a critical system process failed or encountered a problem, preventing Windows from booting correctly.

Here are a few steps you can take to resolve the issue.

Boot into Safe Mode

  • Power on your PC and immediately press the F8 or Shift + F8 keys repeatedly (depending on the system) to enter the Advanced Boot Options menu.
  • Select Safe Mode and see if Windows can boot up properly in this mode.
  • If it does, you can try uninstalling the most recent update that caused the issue.

Uninstall Recent Updates

If you can access Safe Mode, uninstall the latest update that caused the problem:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history > Uninstall updates.
  • Select the most recent update (the one installed just before the issue started) and uninstall it.

Perform System Restore

  • If Safe Mode is inaccessible or the above step doesn’t resolve the issue, try to perform a System Restore.
  • Boot the PC from Advanced Startup options (you may need to use a bootable Windows USB drive if you can’t access these options from the current OS):
    • Click Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
  • Choose a restore point from before the update occurred to revert the system back to a working state.

Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM

If you can boot into Safe Mode or via the Advanced Startup Options, run these two utilities to check for and repair system file corruption.

  • Open Command Prompt (run as administrator) and type the following:
    1. sfc /scannow (This will scan and fix corrupted system files.)
    2. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth (This will repair the system image.)
  • Restart your PC after the commands have completed.

Check Disk for Errors

If the issue is related to disk corruption, you can run Check Disk:

  • Open Command Prompt (as an administrator) and type:
    • chkdsk /f /r.
  • This will check your drive for errors and attempt to fix them.

Reset Windows (If Necessary)

As a last resort, if none of the above steps resolve the issue, you can perform a Windows Reset:

  • Boot into Advanced Startup Options and select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  • Choose to either Keep my files or Remove everything depending on your preference. This will reinstall Windows and should resolve the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
