I want to upgrade both RAM & HD
Upgrading RAM Straight forward no problems ! SSD Problems
I Downloades onto a 8GB Stick the latest Microsoft Windows 10 edition.
Copied this onto my SSD that was 1st FORMATTED. I then removed the old HD, INSTALLED THE NEW SSD.
plunged in the new SSD Tried booting ( START/POWER BUTTON, listen for fans ! Hold down ESC KEY n it goes TO BLACK SCREEN with processor type:
Processor speed:
L1/L2 cache etc, etc.
When trying to press the ESC KEY ( as directed ) to get to STARTUP MENU !!
ZILCH, NADA, NOT A DICKYBIRD
If I then go back to my old HD everything starts as normal !!

Hi @pommie5
I would not do two component upgrades at the same time. It sounds like you did this.
Anyway, it seems the RAM upgrade was okay if the PC goes to the Startup Menu. And you can run Windows with the factory HDD and the new RAM.
Can you select "F9" at the startup menu when the new SSD is installed to check for bootable drives or is the system unresponsive?.
Some HP PCs have problems with certain manufacturer's 2.5 inch SATA SSDs. This is all I can tell you.
Your PC does not support M.2 SSDs. So I would look at a Crucial 2.5 inch SATA SSD upgrade or a HP 2.5 inch SATA SSD upgrade for the best experience.
You can use the Crucial Scanner at Crucial Memory to find compatible 2.5 inch SATA SSD upgrades.
