Product: HP Pavilion a6220n

I have been experiencing issues with my computer regarding USB connectivity issues in the BIOS. Whenever I connect a USB drive into the computer, whether I boot into the computer with the USB drive inserted or not, makes no difference. If I boot the computer to specify the boot order, the USB drive is not showing up.

 

All of the USB drives I have tested work fine on my daily driver PC, and even on my brother's PC. Should I try to install a different drive like an SSD? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have since upgraded this PC to a Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU, and I have been able to boot into Ubuntu from USB by using the rear USB port to boot, as the front ports are disabled without an operating system. Thank you for your help. it was very insightful.

You have to go into the BIOS/UEFI settings and look for Secure Boot, and if you find that, disable it and reboot.

 

If the drive still is not seen in the Boot Devices menu, then you need to go back into settings and look for Disable Booting from Portable devices, and if you find that, disable that.
