Hi @Rosemarie_27,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop always boots into the UEFI diagnostics screen (HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI), it usually means the system can't find a valid bootable device or the boot order is misconfigured. Here's how to fix it:
1. Check Boot Order in BIOS
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
- Go to the Boot tab.
- Make sure your internal hard drive or SSD is listed as the first boot device.
- If not, use the arrow keys to move it to the top.
- Press F10 to save and exit.
2. Disable UEFI Diagnostics Boot
Some HP laptops allow disabling automatic diagnostics:
- In BIOS, go to Advanced > Boot Options.
- Look for Diagnostics Boot or UEFI Diagnostics and disable it if available.
3. Check for OS Installation
If your hard drive is listed, but the system still boots to UEFI:
- The OS might be missing or corrupted.
- Boot from a Windows 11 installation USB.
- Choose Repair your computer > Startup Repair.
4. Run Full Diagnostics
- Let the UEFI diagnostics run once and complete all tests.
- If it finds no issues, it may reset the boot path automatically.
5. Reset BIOS to Defaults
- Enter BIOS (Esc > F10).
- Press F9 to load defaults.
- Press F10 to save and exit.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
