Hello everyone,
I woke up in the morning and I could see a white screen with the following message :
" The system BIOS update failed
Unable to open Bios image file"
Trying to click on "continue to start" reboots the PC but it return to the same BIOS update screen.
I tried the combo of "Windows +B + power key" but it is not yielding any positive results.
I was able to obtain the Bios file (SSID: 86F3) for my PC but I am unable to use it.
I am stuck and I unable to work.
Some help, anyone?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @Regnier,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your HP 22-Dd PC. If the BIOS update has failed and your computer won't start, it can be a concerning issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this problem.
Check Power: First, make sure that your computer is properly plugged in and that the power source is working. Ensure all cables are connected securely.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the computer.
- Disconnect all peripheral devices and external cables.
- Hold the power button down for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cable and turn the computer on.
Reset the BIOS/CMOS:
- If the BIOS update caused the issue, it's possible that resetting the BIOS/CMOS to default settings could help.
- Open your computer's case and locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard. It's typically a coin-cell battery.
- Remove the battery for a few minutes, then reinsert it.
- Close the case and try turning on your computer again.
Use BIOS Recovery:
- Many HP computers have a feature called "BIOS recovery" or "emergency recovery" that can help in situations like this.
- Check your HP manual or visit the HP website for instructions on how to perform a BIOS recovery for your specific model.
Avoid Future BIOS Updates (for now): Until the issue is resolved, refrain from attempting any more BIOS updates, as a failed update can be quite problematic.
Remember that BIOS updates are sensitive procedures, and if not done correctly, they can result in issues like the one you're facing. Always ensure you're using the correct BIOS update for your specific model and follow the manufacturer's instructions precisely when performing such updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
