What is the biggest hard drive I can use as a main drive on a HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-1177c PC

I believe the inside of your system looks like this

Unless you have a custom system, your boot "C" drive is the NVME SSD at location  2
You should have a 1 TB "D" or "E" drive at location 4.

 

That 1tb can be replaced with any 7200 or 5400 rpm drive that is within your budget.   I am unsure exactly how large it can be but under 16tb should work fine unless the drive came from an external enclosure.   Try to avoid shucked drives.
