You have a hardware failure. Your PC is eight years old.
Can you detect a specific cadence to the flashing LED? This HP Site lists common POST error codes. Your PC is kind of old. I don't know if the error codes at the above site apply to your PC.
Check the rear chassis I/O panel. What is the power supply LED doing?
What's happening with the PC? Any sign of life (fans, HDD activity, DVD activity) other than a flashing front panel LED?
Finding the bad part is a process of elimination. Sorry, any of the following components may have failed.
Possible problem:
1. Power supply
2. RAM
3. Other component (graphics card or WIFI card)
4. MB or CPU
5. An unnecessary and faulty peripheral device can cause boot problems
