I have a 12-yr old HP Pavillion desktop that I replaced with an HP AIO. I want to wipe the hard drive on the old one and maybe use it as a stand alone hard drive.
I've tried everything under Settings, Update and Security, selected both options. Inserted the HP System Recovery disc that came with the computer, restarted the computer and all that happened is it loaded the log-in page. Same thing with a bootable disc I inserted.
Next, I downloaded Disc Wipe, burned to disc and USB. Nothing works. What I get is this:
Does anyone know why this is happening? Am I going to have to remove the hard drive and destroy it?
Any help appreciated.
Thank you

If I'm reading the screen correctly, this says the drive is in use -- implying that it is booting from the same drive you are trying to wipe and that is not possible. I know you said you made a USB stick, but if you are booting from that, you should not be getting an "in use" error message.
