Hi  @65gtogreg,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern, don’t worry let me help you with this.

Could you kindly confirm the below details?

  • What is the exact HP Desktop Slim model number or product number?
  •  Does the system reboot while performing specific tasks, such as gaming, browsing, or during startup, or does it happen completely at random?
  • Do you see any error messages or blue screen (BSOD) before the restart?
  • Have there been any recent hardware changes, Windows updates, driver updates, or software installations?

In the meantime, Kindly try the following  steps:

1. Check Windows Event Viewer

  • Press Windows + X and select Event Viewer.
  • Navigate to Windows Logs - System.
  • Look for critical errors around the time of the restart and kindly share a snap of it

2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Power off the desktop.
  • Turn it on and repeatedly tap F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run: System Test,Memory Test&Hard Drive/Storage Test
  • Let us know if any failure IDs are reported.

3. Disable Automatic Restart

  • Go to Advanced - Startup and Recovery - Settings.
  • Uncheck Automatically restart.
  • If a blue screen appears later, please take a photo and share the error message.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
