My HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0067c was starting to lag and I decided it was time to refresh it. I created Windows 10 install media and booted from that USB. Made a new single partition and let windows 10 install. However, after 5-6 tries, it constantly stops at a plain blue screen. No text on the screen. Tried Repair, rebooted, looked at options in BIOS, but didn't really change any... this computer worked fine but slow yesterday, how is it not able to even get into Windows today with a fresh install?

Hi @Blarg3
Go back into the BIOS. Select "File" to see if you can check the BIOS version.
You may have a buggy BIOS version if you see F.57. HP released a new version, F.58 to fix this problem.
See if you can create bootable USB HP BIOS update media on a different PC by downloading this File. This file is BIOS version F.58.
Otherwise, check this Forum Link for instructions on flashing the BIOS to BIOS version F.58 to fix the problem.
Or have a local PC Tech do this for you.
You will have a problem until you get rid of BIOS version F.57.

That was it, I replaced the bios with v.58 and it works. I ended up going through a longer process than just the bios…. Sheesh HP, way to release bios that cripple a perfectly fine, 5 year-old PC. If it’s not a solid improvement, leave us alone! Anyone who’s not moderately tech-savvy just gets their pc turned into a brick.
