HP 500B Microtower
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!I have a serious issue with my 500B MC.I tried to perform a clean install of windows 10.All went well until suddenly the installation crashed.I restarted the PC and tried again but it started the LAN boot sequence despite the different boot order.I disabled it from the Setup Screen and run a  diagnostic with F9.I got an error BIOHD3 so i got a new HDD and installed it.Still the problem persists...I changed SATA cables and now i got a BIOHD4 error and the computer wont boot from CD or USB flash either. It get past the logo screen and gets stuck at a black screen with the cursor. If i try to select the CD it displays "Reboot and select proper boot device or Insert Boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

I don't know how old your particular PC is, but these models have been around since at least 2007 -- which makes it 11 years old, or so.

Both those error codes point to a failing or failed hard drive -- and if that is the case, no reinstallation is going to work.

To check the drive, you have to follow these steps:
1) Press Esc key repeatedly, several times a second, while rebooting the laptop. Do NOT hold the key down, just press it over and over.
2) Eventually, you will see an HP Startup Menu -- that will look similar to the image below ...
 HP Startup Menu.jpg

3) press the Function key for testing the hard drive (usually F2) and let it run.

Please report back the test results.
