HP EliteBook 850 G5 Base Model Notebook PC

I was doing a clean install of windows 10 pro, because I was part of workgroup and am no longer. The workgroup settings were affecting my updates, they wouldn't go through, because it said it was managed by my administrator. From my research, the only out of that was to do a clean install. Now it is stuck doing Windows reinstallation looping, gets to 60% and reboots on stop error. BRHOSTDRV.SYS. Can't get to safe start mode, just off with the power button or looping constantly.

Need help please.

I suggest you use the HP cloud recovery client utility to create a bootable USB recovery drive to reinstall Windows.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this.

Below is the link to the Cloud recovery client software download:

Client or Cloud recovery

Go here, put in your full Product ID, and see if you have cloud restore.

If you do not have cloud restore then create a restore USB. Use the HP recovery manager as described in step 4 here or if not available then just the windows 11 recovery as described here.

You may need to boot  into safe mode

[edit] Oops, @Paul_Tikkanen beat me to it.

For some reason, the specifications for the 850 G5 require a serial number to be able to view.  I spent some time looking at why.
