Welcome@Mgreen071 -
As posted for the previous user -
Here is a trick I use when things try to interfere with boot options.
Start tapping the Esc key BEFORE starting the PC and then press the start button.
Keep tapping the Esc key until a popup menu shows. Then pick Boot options from that popup menu, F10.
Use the right arrow key to choose the System Configuration menu, use the down arrow key to select Boot Options, then press Enter. Use the down arrow key to select Legacy Support and press Enter, select Disabled if it is enabled and press Enter.
After that it should show in the F9 choice.
If the USB is bootable, it will show in the menu. Make the USB the first item and then save.
I'm not an HP employee.

Once you get into Bios Setup, scroll across to SECURITY > SECURE BOOT CONFIG - Secure Boot - disable, Legacy Support - Enable. Then go across to FILE > Save Changes and Exit.
You may then be asked to press ENTER and then F1.
I had difficulty accessing Bios Setup once I had wiped the hard disk :
At Start when it displays a menu click ESC - F2. It may show a diagnostics menu, if so click EXIT. Then F10 F1 and the bios setup should appear.
Since installing Linux, every time I switch on I have to click ENTER - F1. Then it boots into Linux.

The machine is now running happily in LM Mate. However Disks test shows my Hard Drive in "Imminent Failure!"
I presume the hard disk issues may be behind the Windows problems.
So, replacement drive or new machine.....
My machine is 5 years old. I have an old (HP) Compaq Presario that is 15 years old and still going strong, albeit a bit slow (just like me!).

Thank you for the info. I have done all of that already but the issue is at the Legacy boot option. For some reason it is disabled and will not allow me to enable it until the secure boot is disabled. When I try to disable it, I get one of the messages in red. Any other ideas?
