Hi @Big-Celtic18,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
It sounds like your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop has encountered a serious issue with the BIOS update, which can be tricky to resolve. Let's walk through some steps to try and recover your BIOS and get your system back up and running.
1. Check the USB Flash Drive
- Format the Drive: Make sure the USB drive is formatted as FAT32, as this is the format that most BIOS can read. Use the following steps:
- Plug in the USB drive.
- Open File Explorer, right-click on the drive, and select Format.
- Choose FAT32 from the file system dropdown and click Start.
- Copy the BIOS Files: Download the correct BIOS file for your model from the HP support website. Make sure it’s the correct version for your TG01-0023w model. Copy the BIOS file onto the root directory of the USB drive. If there is a specific folder or filename requirement, make sure to follow it.
2. Perform a BIOS Recovery
- Turn Off the Computer: Completely shut down the computer and disconnect it from the power source.
- Prepare for Recovery:
- Plug in the USB flash drive containing the BIOS files.
- Hold down the Windows key and B key (or V key) at the same time.
- While holding those keys, reconnect the power adapter and turn on the computer.
- Release the Keys: After a few seconds, release the keys. The computer should attempt to recover the BIOS from the USB drive. You should see the HP logo and hear a series of beeps if the recovery process begins.
3. Try Different Key Combinations
- If the Windows + B key combination doesn’t work, try the Windows + V key combination as some HP models respond to this for BIOS recovery.
4. Reset BIOS Settings
- If you can access the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F10 during startup), consider resetting the BIOS settings to their defaults. Look for an option to reset or load the default settings.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Big-Celtic18,
Please find the remaining steps.
5. Check for LED Error Codes
- Look for any blinking LED error codes during startup. These can indicate specific hardware issues that might be preventing the BIOS from starting.
6. Consider Using a Recovery Kit
- If the above steps don’t work, you might need a BIOS recovery kit. HP offers recovery kits for certain models. Check with HP Support for availability and assistance in obtaining one.
Tips:
- Keep the Computer Plugged In: Ensure your computer is plugged in during the recovery process to prevent any interruptions.
- Be Patient: The recovery process may take some time, so allow it to run for a bit before concluding that it’s not working.
Following these steps should help you recover the BIOS on your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop. If you encounter any specific error messages during these processes, If none of the above steps work, contacting HP Phone Support would be the next step.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
