Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Hope all is well,

My bios needs recovery, (when I switch it on, the caps lock blinks 2 times and the wifi light stays on)

I tried recovery with holdeing (windows +B , windows +V and just B ) while switching on but it doesn't work,

I assume I should reinstall the bios again, but I can not find the bios driver anywhere as HP won't support this model anymore.

can anyone help me whth any other ways or help me to find the bios driver?

Hi:

Below are the info and exe file links to the latest BIOS update I could find for your notebook (F.2D):

Info File:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp68001-68500/sp68425.html

Exe File:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp68001-68500/sp68425.exe

Watch these videos for how to create and use a USB BIOS recovery flash drive with the BIOS update file I posted above.

I had no problem running the file I gave you on my Dell PC running Windows 11 to create a USB recovery drive, so unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you, and I know of no other solution than taking the PC to a local repair shop to see if the BIOS can be recovered inexpensively.

Hi:

When I just tried to run the file again, I got a message 'Failed to extract cab.'

It worked before or I would have not even replied to your post because if the file doesn't give you the option to create a USB recovery drive, I don't think anything can be done by us casual users.

Now it won't go to the screen where the file gives you the option to create a USB BIOS recovery drive.

You can use the free 7-Zip file utility on another PC to extract the BIOS exe file into its folder and explore the files in there.

Download and install 7-Zip

7-Zip

After you install 7-Zip, right click on the BIOS file you downloaded.

Select 7-Zip from the list of files on the menu.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name.

Once that is done, you can open the folder and see what files are in there.

There is something called a Crisis folder in there along with many other files.

I would have no idea what if anything can be done with those files.

Hi again:

This is so strange:

This reputable 3rd party driver site also has the F.2D BIOS file with the same file number and when I download it from that site on my Dell PC, it allows me to make a USB BIOS recovery flash drive.

You may want to try it from there.
