@Laucheintopf, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Black Screen and 8 Beep Tones After BIOS Update!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you encounter an issue where your HP PC fails to start with 8 beep tones and a black screen after a BIOS update, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to recover the BIOS:

Power Cycle the PC:

  • Disconnect the power adapter from the computer.
  • Remove the battery if it’s a removable battery model.
  • Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power adapter (and the battery if it's removable).
  • Attempt to start the PC.

Perform a BIOS Recovery Using a USB Drive (if applicable):

  • Create a BIOS recovery USB key. You can do this on another computer by downloading the BIOS recovery file from the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.
  • Power off the PC experiencing the issue.
  • Insert the USB drive with the BIOS recovery file into the USB port.
  • Press and hold the Windows + B key, and then press and hold the power button for 2 to 5 seconds.
  • Release the power button but continue holding the Windows + B key until the BIOS recovery screen appears or you hear beeps.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the recovery process.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Remove any peripherals connected to the PC (e.g., USB devices, external monitors).
  • Re-seat the RAM and check all internal connections.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
