Hi,

My desktop has recently stopped working with the error message "boot device not found hp hard disk 3f0".

I have tried to restart it a number of times including unplugging everything first etc.

The hard drive passed the quick test.

I have downloaded Windows10 onto a usb flash drive and tried the various options available but none have worked.

Does anyone have any suggestions please.

What issue you get when trying to install via bootable usb? Check if your SSD or windows drive shown in bios in information tab and boot tab

Hi Venom,

I have not actually tried to install yet. I have been trying the advanced repair options and also some command prompts which I got from Google AI. If I reinstall Windows on the hard drive will I lose any files?

Did the BIOS show your SSD in the information tab?

If you have a single drive and you didn’t create a separate partition for storage, then your files might still be safe, because we usually delete and reinstall Windows only on the Windows partition.
However, if you have one large drive with everything on a single partition, it’s better to get professional help for data recovery instead of doing a clean install yourself. Also, if you have more drive then they won't be affected and we only focus on window drive

By the way, try booting from the USB, go to the recovery options, and use System Restore. This might fix the problem
