Product: Victus by HP 15L Gaming Desktop PC TG02-0000a (4H508AV)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11
I can't set the UEFI Boot Manager to boot from USB. I want to load a version of Ubuntu from a USB stick. This worked perfectly before with Windows 10.

Hi @Hornerboy,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To change the UEFI boot sequence on your Victus by HP 15L Gaming Desktop PC to boot from a USB drive, follow these steps.
Insert the USB Drive:
- Plug the USB stick containing the Ubuntu installation into a USB port on your PC.
Access the UEFI Firmware Settings:
- Restart your computer.
- During the startup process, press the Esc key repeatedly (or the F10 key on some models) to enter the BIOS/UEFI Setup.
Navigate to Boot Options:
- Once in the BIOS/UEFI Setup, use the arrow keys to navigate to the Boot tab or menu.
Change Boot Order:
- Look for an option related to boot order or boot priority.
- Use the arrow keys to move the USB drive to the top of the boot order list.
Enable USB Boot (if needed):
- Some BIOS/UEFI settings may require you to enable USB booting.
- Look for an option like Boot from USB, External Devices, or similar, and ensure it is enabled.
Save and Exit:
- Save your changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI Setup. This is usually done by pressing F10 and then confirming the save.
Boot from USB:
- Your computer should now attempt to boot from the USB stick. If it doesn’t, try restarting the computer again and re-enter the BIOS/UEFI Setup to ensure that the USB device is correctly set as the primary boot option.
If you’re still having issues, make sure that:
- The USB drive is correctly formatted and has the Ubuntu installation media properly written to it.
- The USB port you are using is functional (try different ports if necessary).
If the problem persists, it could be related to a firmware update or settings change that happened during the transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
