Hi @WardRd,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm sorry you're facing this issue with your HP All-in-One PC. I know how frustrating it can be when your computer doesn't work as expected. Let me help you troubleshoot.

  • When you say the computer is locked, are you unable to move the mouse, access the keyboard, or shut it down?
  • Did you recently install any updates, new software, or hardware before this started?
  • Are there any error messages or unusual behavior displayed on the screen?

Let's try these steps.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds until the computer powers off completely.
  • Wait for 30 seconds, then press the power button again to restart.

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • Press the power button to turn on the PC. As soon as it starts, repeatedly press F11 (or Shift + F8) to access the recovery menu.
  • Select Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  • Choose Safe Mode and check if the issue persists. If it doesn't, the issue might be related to software or drivers.

Disconnect External Devices:

  • Remove all peripherals (e.g., USB drives, printers, or external monitors).
  • Restart the PC and check if it boots normally. A faulty peripheral can cause system hangs.

Check for Stuck Processes:

  • If you can access Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), end unresponsive processes under the Processes tab.
  • Look for any programs showing "Not Responding" and select End Task.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If Safe Mode works but normal mode doesn’t, consider rolling back to a restore point:
    • In Safe Mode, search for Create a restore point.
    • Select System Restore, choose a restore point from before the issue started, and follow the prompts.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
