if had my computer for almost 2 years, I think that my CPU is failing, one day my computer stopped turning on, I tried almost every troubleshooting tip, and none worked. I disconnected the computer for a day, and when I plugged it back the computer turned on again. I thought it fixed the issue but when I turned off my computer it did not turn on again. for a few days I would just unplug it for a few hours then plug it back, until 4 days ago it just completely stopped turning on, It went 4 days without turning on, and now it turned on today surprisingly. I am not sure what the issue is?

Greetings @chuy7

Welcome to the HP Forum.

You have an intermittent component problem if "turning on" means the PC occasionally does nothing when you depress the power button.

Any link in the power on chain from: AC power, AC power cables, or internal connections or PC components are fair game.

I would probably look at the HP power supply in your situation. Not to say any other component or peripheral connected to the MB, or the PC, or the MB itself does not have a problem.

I normally suggest having a local PC tech take a look if the PC is out of warranty.

If you want to troubleshoot you would have to reduce the PC to a minimum configuration:

- Power supply
- Existing MB and CPU
- one stick of known good RAM
- Onboard CPU graphics, if the CPU and MB supports this option, or a different, known good, graphics card

- known good PC monitor

A wild card problem could be a failing chassis power button.

You should test the installed CR2032 MB battery and replace if required.

You would now have to swap in different components, one at a time, (power supply, CPU and MB) to check for a successful POST if the PC will not start in a minimum configuration.

Regards
