I have tried pressing the windows key + B method, and I get the 8 beeps...but then it just returns to the same screen saying press escape to enter setup. I don't get the BIOS upgrade screen. Does this mean I have a hardware issue? This is a client's machine, and it was working fine, before she shut it down. It's about 3 years old. Any suggestions? I've tried everything I can think of, including power cycling, replacing the CMOS battery, and trying all the hot keys.

Please follow the steps below to perform an extensive system test to confirm if the hardware is working fine.
1) Shut down the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F2 once.

Hi Irwin6, thanks for the reply. I've tried what you have suggested numerous times. The problem is that once the screen appears saying to press escape to enter setup, I get no response from any key on the keyboard. When I try the Windows +B keys method, I get the 8 beeps, but instead of loading the BIOS repair screen, it just goes back to the same screen asking me to press escape to enter setup. I can't get into BIOS to change the boot order so I can boot to USB or DVD. I'm assuming the BIOS needs to be repaired or reflashed, but if I can't boot from USB or DVD, how can I do that? So therein lies my problem. I really don't think it's a hardware problem because it was working perfectly before she shutdown her machine. That being said, she did shut the machine down improperly by hitting the power button on the tower. She got popped with a ransomware ad that was screaming at her and she didn't know how to get rid of it. So instead of calling me, she just hit the power button and shut it down. When she booted back up, she got the press escape screen. Any other ideas?
