I just installed the latest Windows 11 update and when it did a restart, it's stuck on the HP start up screen. I've tried doing hard restarts then it will just loop on automatic repair screen. If anyone could be so kind to help, I would appreciate it.

Hi @Adezarn85,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you have being stuck on the HP startup screen or looping on the automatic repair screen can be frustrating. Here are steps you can take to try and resolve this issue:

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Shut down your computer completely by holding the power button until it turns off.
  • Disconnect all external devices such as USB drives, printers, and external monitors.
  • Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery if it's removable.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain residual electrical charge.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and the battery, then try starting the laptop again.

Run Startup Repair:

  • If the laptop automatically enters the recovery environment, choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to let Windows attempt to fix startup problems.

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • Restart the computer and interrupt the startup process three times by turning it off as soon as the Windows logo appears.
  • On the third try, let the PC continue to boot and it should enter into the Windows Recovery Environment.
  • Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings and click Restart.
  • Once the system restarts, select option 4 or 5 to boot into Safe Mode.

Use System Restore:

  • Boot into the Windows Recovery Environment as described above.
  • Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
  • Select a restore point dated before the update and follow the prompts to restore your system.

Uninstall Recent Updates:

  • From the Advanced options menu, choose Uninstall Updates.
  • You can try uninstalling the latest quality update or feature update if the issue started after an update.

Take care and have an amazing day!
