Help - my computer will not turn on. I push the power button and the fan starts to cycle for a bout 5 seconds then cuts off - display does not light up. I have tried unplugging the computer, pushing in the power button for 5 seconds then plugging the power cord back in and starting the system -- same thing -- fan starts running for a few seconds then, poof, nothing. I have tried this process and plugging in with a new power cord -- this makes the system go through a series of alarm tones -- three noises then three noises in a different pitch --- repeat. How do I get this pr

Google-search for "HP Beep Codes", to see if you can match that "three-three-repeat" pattern to some text on an HP web-page.
There are many reasons, other than a "bad" power-cord, that may be causing your computer to not start.
You might need to find a local "owner/operator" computer store, to pay for professional trouble-shooting.
