I brought a new hard drive to go into my Hp pavailion p6 series p6-2302 eam and when I put the new hard drive in and booted it up it came up with this error message.
no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed.
this came up even before I put on windows so I'm not to sure what to do? I've gotten into the bios and tried to boot the system from a disk and a external hard drive but neither of them worked I'd also tested the hard drive but it said all was okay and the computer could read it so I'm kind of stuck now of what to do.

That message would be appropriate for a blank hard drive. The Windows system needs to address the drive and make it ready. This can be done either with a Windows install disk or the Recovery media disk set

If the Recvoery disk set was made when the PC was working that will return it to the way it was from the factory. If you do not have that, perhaps you can order it from HP. Otherwise get the Windows 8 DOWNLOAD FROM M$ to reinstall.

So The computer has a 1tb WD blue hard drive and we have another computer with a WD blue hard drive but with only 500gb and windows 10 already installed on there. When I put the other hard drive in it came up with the same message which is starting to worry me as it could be something bigger then just the hard drive.

If this other hard drive is displaying no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed. It could be there is a hardware problem. I would first try a different SATA port and a different cable, too. Check to tell if the hard drive is powering up by placing your hand on the drive before powering the computer and then feel for any vibration while it is powering up.
