HP DeskJet 2710e All-in-One Printer

When I start my PC I get a pop up message that a file cannot be located - but the message is related to my previous HP printer which is no longer in use and was replaced a year ago.

I want to get rid of this obselete pop up message for good.

Also when I use my password which i use for HP from my previous printer - it tells me this password is taken -  yes it is by me so now I have to change my password by adding a 1 at the end.

Hi @Joatmon1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the issue of the pop-up message related to your previous HP printer, you'll need to remove any lingering software or startup entries associated with the old printer. Here’s what you can do.

Uninstall Old Printer Software:

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
  • Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter to open the Programs and Features window.
  • Locate any software related to your old HP printer in the list, select it, and choose Uninstall. Follow the prompts to complete the uninstallation process.

Remove Startup Entries:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Go to the Startup tab.
  • Look for any entries related to your old HP printer, right-click on them, and choose Disable or Delete (if available).

Clean Up Printer Drivers:

  • Press Win + R again to open the Run dialog.
  • Type printui.exe /s and press Enter.
  • In the Print Management window, go to the Drivers tab.
  • Remove any drivers related to your old printer by selecting them and clicking Remove.

Update Password:

  • If you're encountering issues with using your password for HP services due to it being associated with your old printer, visit the HP website.
  • Log into your HP account and update your password to something new that isn’t related to your previous printer.
  • Make sure to update any other devices or services where this password might be saved.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the pop-up message issue and update your password successfully.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
