hp compaq 8100 elite sff (2010 , 10 years old) gen 1 Intel MMC (weak)

DDR3 is not easy,  used and made for many  years, (can be a pain doing this) use google translate.

for sure using modern new DDR3 high density DDR3 in a low density 10 year old  MMC PC,

the BIOS needs to be upgrade to allow newer DDR3.

did you fail to look in BIOS first to see if it likes DDR3 new (not windows first BIOS is first)

no old ram told what as there and what is there now in total.

you did not by Corsair certified ram so  buying underdog Mushkin while cheaper is not a savings ?

just one stick of ram.? in the PC, just one bought? or 2? /??????

here are some rules on DDR

Note the missing 8GB DDR sticks !!!!!  this is in your PCs spec, page, I added word risky)

this is what it did long long ago(spec)  (ddr sticks are on right side)

  • 1 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (1 x 1 GB)
  • 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (1 x 2 GB)
  • 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (1 x 2 GB)
  • 3 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (1 GB + 2 GB) (risky always)
  • 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (1 x 4 GB)
  • 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (2 x 2 GB)
  • 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (2 x 4 GB)
  • 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (4 x 2 GB)
  • 16 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (4 x 4 GB)
  1. do not mix brands and SKU  or makers. (intels.com MMC rules are clear there, read that)
  2. do not mix densities of DDR  via 2 slots A and B,  all ram needs to be same in A/B channel slots. (intel.com refr)
  3. learn to test the sticks 1  by 1  in bank0 slot 0 channel A first. 1 by 1, to see if PC and BIOS likes it via BIOS pages.
  4. some PCs old can not run newer higher density DDR, for sure 1sided or low chip counts per stick even intel.com MMC tells you why in the datasheet on you MMC (memory management controller) MMC limits are real and pure logic.

update the bios is always wise if 1 stick of DDR fails. all by itself, does it?

Thank you for your replay .they are 2 kits of ram 4 and 4 .when i install the ram and open pc it detect the 8gb ram dd3 but then when i press save and exit it stuck at windows loading logo .how can i upgrade bios? Btw i am not doing windows update.now i am using the old 4gb ram until i find a solution

what does BIOS DO forget windows, BIOS must be haPPY FIRST.

power on , hammer ESC key see BIOS ,see DDR.

2 kits of ram 4 and 4 . (what does this mean)

4gB x 4, that?    all same DDR exactly?

for 16GB total???? please be clear on DDR install are all 4 exactly the SAME maker and model SKU?

why not test PC with just one stick DDR bank 0 ,  channel A (as in crawl , then walk then run?)  1 stick then 2 A/B then all 4.

see if BIOS even likes one stick AS IT MUST.

BIOS looks (scans) the SPD chip on each stick of DDR and it if does not like this, it fails.

do not change DDR ever with AC  cord to wall (desktops, laptops big battery out too) hard fast run no hot swapping parts inside any PC.

if still fails reset BIOS

if still fails, upgrade BIOS.

if still fails  next time  buy CERTIFIED DDR<  from Corsair or Kingston)  that word means tested on YOUR PC. exactly.

Lets start again. I have sent you the kit that i bought. It is 4gb×2 ddr3 .I replace them with the old ram modules which are 2gbx2 ddr3 and then open pc.When pc turn on a blackscreen appear and say that pc have 8gb ram .then i press save changes and exit. After that ,pc starting  to boot up but stuck at windows loasing screen and the logo isnt showing.what i can do?
