Hi,
So I tried to fix my grandma's PC which is showing "Enter Power-On Password". She told me this just popped up and she didn't set it up.
What I tried:
- remove CMOS battery for ~5 mins
- changed jumpers
I found contrary articles on that topic.
- Mainboard support: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02978278 (Jumper settings)
- PC support: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03550748.pdf (starting p. 141)
When I opened the machine, both blue jumpers were on 1-2 and 3-4. Picture of Mainboard support looks like this is default. Text sounds to me as if default is 1-3 and 2-4. In PC manual there is no picture, but text sounds like one jumper default is 2-3. I'm confused.
Nevertheless, I've tried from 1-2 and 3-4 to 3-4 and 5-6 & from 2-4 and 1-3 to 3-5. Nothing helped. Only the date on the password screen changed to 2005.
I hope you can help me, otherwise I'd need to trash it.
