HP Pavilion 31.5 inch All-in-One Desktop PC 32-b1000i (6J6L4AV)

The HP Pavilion 31.5 All in one computer I bought was pre-installed with McAfee, Office and other software, which have expired. I have already replaced the Norton and Office 2019 I bought before, but now when I turn on the computer or when there is a pause, a renewal request icon appears about every half an hour, occupying the screen and cannot be closed. It takes 2 minutes to go through all 4 pages (required to renew or purchase McAfee, Office 2024, VPN and support.com). Excuse me, is this software renewal icon implanted by HP? Or by Microsoft? Can they harm the interests of customers in this way? I have deleted McAfee, but it still happens. How should I deal with it?

Hi @bj6708

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That sounds incredibly frustrating—especially since you've already uninstalled McAfee and replaced Office.

These renewal pop-ups are likely coming from pre-installed software or system notifications that persist even after uninstalling the applications.

Steps to Disable Renewal Pop-ups

Step 1: Check Startup Programs

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  2. Go to the Startup tab.
  3. Look for any entries related to McAfee, Office, VPN, or Support.com.
  4. Right-click and select Disable.

Step 2: Remove Leftover McAfee Components

  1. Download and run the McAfee Consumer Product Removal (MCPR) Tool from McAfee’s official site.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove any remaining files.
  3. Restart your PC.

Step 3: Disable HP Notifications

  1. Open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Go to Settings > Notifications.
  3. Disable any renewal-related alerts.

Step 4: Check Scheduled Tasks

  1. Open Task Scheduler (search for it in the Start menu).
  2. Look for tasks related to McAfee, Office, VPN, or Support.com.
  3. Right-click and select Disable or Delete.

If the renewal icons persist after these steps, let me know, and we can explore additional solutions! Hopefully, this clears up the issue.
