HP All-in-One PC 24-df1000i (1W762AV)

This All In One belonged to my mother, who passed a year ago. I am trying to use the machine, but can't get past her login page. I do not have all of her credentials, and don't want to login as her. I just want to use the machine as a new user.

Hi @chief503,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you want to use the HP All-In-One PC 24 as a new user without her credentials, you have a few options.

Create a New User Account:

  • If you have access to an administrator account or can obtain administrator rights, you can create a new user account. Here's how:
    • Boot the computer and log in as an administrator if possible.
    • Open the Control Panel.
    • Navigate to "User Accounts" or "User Accounts and Family Safety" (depending on your Windows version).
    • Select "Manage another account" and then "Add a new user in PC settings."
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to create a new user account.
    • Make sure to set the new account as an administrator, so you have full control over the PC.

Reset Windows Password:

  • If you don't have administrator access and cannot create a new account, you may need to reset the Windows password. To do this, you'll typically need a Windows installation or recovery disk, or access to a command prompt in Windows Recovery Mode. This process can vary depending on your Windows version.

Reinstall Windows:

  • If all else fails and you don't need any of your mother's data on the computer, you can perform a clean Windows installation. This will erase all data on the computer, so make sure to back up any important files if necessary. You'll need a Windows installation media (USB or DVD) to reinstall the operating system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
