Selecting "no" would be the right choice if BitLocker is enabled.

Is BitLocker enabled and do you have the BitLocker recovery key?.

You should disable BitLocker in Windows: Control Panel>Device Encryption if it is enabled before resetting the TPM.

You should then be able to reset the TPM without having a BitLocker (operating system and data access) problem.

But backup the important stuff to external media before doing anything.

You will not be able to log into Windows: if the TPM is messed up, or you reset the TPM when BitLocker is enabled.. This is true even if you have the correct BitLocker recovery key.

Greetings @Bill_To

Thank you for answering my query.

I will check whether I have bitlocker enabled or not and whether I have recovery key or not but what I want to ask you this why does this error occur.

And as you mentioned to backup data. Which data are you referring to bitlocker stored data or data that I have on my pc like normal games, photos, vids etc.

And can also explain what does tpm do or protect.

Again thank you for your time.

Greetings @ProblemCreater

My pleasure.

I'm not a fan of, and do not use BitLocker.

I don't know why your PC is asking you to reset the TPM. i do know if the TPM gets corrupted you will not be able to sign into Windows and you will lose all data on the encrypted disk.

Check this Microsoft Site for an explanation of the relationship between the TPM and Windows.

You should do multiple external backups of all data (personal files, videos, music, and office documents) stored on all BitLocker encrypted drives installed in your PC.

Some folks need BitLocker. I advise not using BitLocker if you don't need it.

Regards
