Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Dear all, a few days ago my computer started behaving strangely. When trying to upload some photos using Chrome, windows explorer crashed, and a pop-up appeared showing the message: "Windows explorer has stopped working". A few seconds after that, the entire desktop refreshed and another window poped up displaying "Windows explorer is restarting...".

The cycle of two windows appearing repeated endlessly. I restarted the computer, as soon as it shows the desktop, the same thing happens again, ad infinitum.

I could re-start the computer using safety mode, it works fine that way. I disabled most software on startup, except 360 total security anti virus. It did not solve the problem.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Thank you very much for any help!

Matheus

Hi old_geekster, I tried what you said and it did not work. However, I then found the original microsoft source where you got that info from, and they mention there about a corrupted video driver as a possible source. This was the problem in my case: radeon tried to update earlier this week, but I was in a hurry and did not do it properly. I tried again and it worked now!

Thnaks for your help, even if not exactly what I needed, it solved my problem!

@cabrunco, welcome to the forum.

Here is a possible solution that I found on Microsoft's Community:

Try using System File Checker to scan your OS for missing/corrupt files, complete these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
  2. In the results area, right-click cmd.exe, and then click Run as administrator. You will be prompted to type the password for an administrator account. Click Continue if you are the administrator or type the administrator password. Then, click Continue.
  3. At the command prompt, type Sfc /scannow, and then press ENTER.

    The scan may take some time, so be patient. Windows will repair any corrupted or missing files that it finds.

You are welcome, @cabrunco.  I guess the fact that you solved your problem is the most important thing.
