Z820
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to install Windows 10 onto my Z820. I was having problems as Windows crashes after installation, so I did the following:

  1. [Default Setup]
  2. [Restore Factory Settings and Default]
  3. Enter
  4. [Apply Defaults and Exit]
  5. F10 to enter BIOS
  6. Security] [Secure Boot Configuration]
  7. Disabled Legacy and enabled Secure Boot
  8. F10
  9. [Save Changes and Exit] Now when I hit the power, nothing happens and eventually the power button turns red and beeps. Now I cannot go into the BIOS. Any ideas what to do?

Hi:

The beep codes indicate what is wrong with the PC.

See chapter 4 of the service manual starting on page 145 to find the beep code that your PC is generating, and how to troubleshoot it.

Thank you for the information. Not having the manual I had to resort to the Internet. A CMOS reset did the trick. Unfortunately < my settings repeated the error, and I reset the CMOS with the power connected and rendered my BIOS useless 😞

I guess reinstalling the BIOS is the next step. Again thank you for the advice.

James
