My processor supports up to 128 G of RAM and based on the hp documentation, the motherboard (tampa 2, 8427 v1.3) supports up to 64 G of RAM. I have installed 128 G, and windows 10 says that 128 G is installed and 64 G is usable, I was wondering if there is any chance that we bios update I could get all the 128 G usable? I don't want to do the bios update just to check! Would appreciate if anybody has any related knowledge that could share.

the intel (or AMD) chipset, Bios, Dimm slots used on the motherboard determines the max ram capability, and your tampa 2 motherboard uses the z370 intel chipset and has four dimm slots
when this system/motherboard was released only 4/8gb dimms were available, later 16Gb dimms (allowing 64GB) were available and while untested by HP did work. As time passed 32Gb (and 64Gb) dimms were produced however due to how these chips were organized on these dimms your system is unable to make use of them
bottom line, the z370 chipset is limited to 64Gb ram max
