Trying to upgrade a co-worker's Pavilion 23 AIO desktop. It came with a 3.5 inch drive and he'd like a newer SSD installed. (Likely going to be a Samsung 860 EVO.)
I couldn't find the part number for HP's 2.5 inch adpater specific for this Pavilion. I have generic adapters but the SATA ports won't line up. My options are to find the correct adapter from HP or simply install a generic adapter and unseat the SATA connector from the two posts (which are secured with two screws) and simply attaching it to the drive and hope it never dislodges (or find another way to secure the connector).
Does anyone know the HP Part # for the adapter or a generic that will properly align the drive in the sled to the connectors?

Hi:
I don't know the part number for the adapter that is specific to that model, but I had a similar issue with two of my HP business class desktop PC's.
The adapter I bought had two cross bars. A wider one and a narrower one.
The bars prevented me from securely seating the power and data cables to the SSD and kind of put upwards pressure on the contacts.
The solution for me which worked perfectly, was to remove the thinner crossbar with a dremel tool and the cables fit perfectly.
This is the adapter I bought...It is very universal and may work for your situation.
I removed the thinner crossbar shown at the top of the picture.

Thanks for the suggestion! We actually tinkered with the original 3.5" mount. We aligned the the drive with the mounted SATA connector, drilled one hole in the top of the sled to keep the alignment and screwed through that new hole and two screws on the side to secure it in place.
It would have been better if HP designed the sled for this type of drive rather than require a different part or having to MacGyver it but I think our solution will be fine.
