Hi ,
Please help..
I got this monitor with no cables or power adapter and not sure how to connect it to my Lenovo yoga 2 type c hdmi
Does it require a power adapter to turn the monitor on ?
The person I purchased this monitor is using
‘1.8 M HDMI Cable To VGA Adapter Digital 1080P HD With Audio Converter Adapter HDMI VGA Connector Cable ‘ to turn the monitor on and claims it doesn’t require a power adapter
Can this be true ?
Response from them ,
‘We just connected it to our laptop and was able to add the monitor as a secondary display. We didn’t have to plug in the monitor to a power source. The laptop acted as the power source.

To be honest I have never seen any monitor that did not require a dedicated power source. The link to the user manual is here and it clearly shows the power adapter and the connection point on the monitor. I have to believe that they were referring to the video cable. An HDMI cable sends video and sound to the monitor but not power.
This link shows a compatible adapter.
