Prodesk 600 G2 SFF

I recently bought a HP Prodesk 600 G2 SFF to swap cases and replace the PSU to be able to add a Graphics Card.

I went through 3 different 24 to 6 pin adapters and none of them worked despite saying that it would in the description.

It cant be the Motherboard because I tested with the original psu and it worked

It cant be the new psu because I tested it with the included Tester

If you know the solution to this problem or link me to one that will for sure work with my system I would be very grateful

please post the adapters name/link you bought them from

next it's highly unlikely you got 3 bad adapters

next if the adapters state compatability with the "Prodesk 600 G2 SFF"

here's a link  for such a adapter, BUT NOTE IT DOES NOT MENTION THE "SFF" MODEL, only the mini tower this may simply be because the SFF can not fit a AXT sized supply or it could be that the "SFF" model uses a different power supply than the Minitower

https://www.moddiy.com/products/HP-ProDesk-600-PSU-Main-Power-24-Pin-to-6-Pin-Adapter-Cable-30cm.htm...

i suspect the power supplies are the same, (checking).....................power supplies use identical pinouts (6pin and 4 pin CPU )

based on the above it appears that you are not connecting the adapter correctly or that you have a short somewhere in the system or you are not shorting the correct two pins momentarily on the motherboard for enabling  power on

the ATX pwr adapter should have a 24 pin connector that connects to the ATX power supply the other end has two connectors one is a 6 pin multi color connector (P2 as i recall) that connects to the motherboard

the 6 pin connector goes to the motherboard 6 pin header

the  ATX power supply's CPU aux 4 pin that connects to the 4 pin motherboard connector by the cpu (where the orig HP 4

black/brown lead connected)

do not confuse the ATX supplies GPU 6/8 pin connector with the ATX supplies CPU's  4 pin connector

the CPU pwr connector will be either a split 8 pin connector that splits into two 4 pin connectors or just a 4 pin connector

pay attention to the clip on the connector it must be on the same side as the motherboards connector that has a small tang protruding to lock the connector in the socket

to remove, press the clip while pulling back and forth on the connector (do not pull using the wires!)

Thanks for the reply,

the adapter that I bought is this one https://www.amazon.com/COMeap-Power-Adapter-Workstation-12-inch/dp/B06XW7RWNH/ref=as_li_ss_tl?_encod...

and you can see it specifies that its compatible with my model, ill check the one you posted.

I would also like to add that a short isnt possible as I said I tested with the original psu and it worked fine

a short not possible? i beg to differ i've seen people connect the CPU dual 4 pin connectors to their video card instead of the GPU 6/8 pin connector i've also seen people connect the connectors backwards, (not matching the clip to tang)

as i stated, you really can't have received 3 bad ATX adapters, and if the motherboard and ATX supply are good then the issue is almost certainly due to a improper ATX adapter connection causing a short, or something else shorting which prevents the ATX supply from operating correctly

A short is not possible as I plugged in the vable that literally says cpu on it
