I'm having problem with the 2nd RAM slot of my HP Pavilion 590. I have tested both 2x8GB RAMs and they work as fine. The problem is when I insert the 2nd RAM to the 2nd RAM slot. The computer doesn't boot and gives 3 long & 3 short beeps. But If I only use the 1st RAM it works fine. I don't know what the issue is, I already tried reseating the CPU but same results. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

According to Kinston memory finder the memory needs to be 1Rx16 (single rank)
https://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search/model/98474/hp-compaq-pavilion-590-p00xxx
look at your memory modules for the 1Rx16. If not there take a picture of both sides and post it here.
Did the system come with a single 8gb and you bought a second, matching one?
Install CPU-z and look at the SPD and MEMORY dialog boxes. I suspect the system sees the single 8gb as taking up two slots.

You might verify that you have the latest bios update
there are 3 bios listed but you will need to confirm the "rom" version to get the correct bios of the two "rom" listed.

hi
" The computer doesn't boot and gives 3 long & 3 short beeps."
no doubt ? strange because it indicates a graphics problem more often than not

although I do not recommend updating the bios, before checking if it is not a compatibility problem, there should be no doubt about the version of the bios!

personally I prefer to warn you, because we have too many problems reported, following a failed bios update
and it may not change your problem.
