I have been running 2 HP 22vx monitors off my pc for years - a couple of days ago the 2nd monitor would not connect. !st monitor is connected via VGA.  I have ran out of ideas on how to fix and trawling through forums hasn't helped me so hopefully someone on here can!

I have replaced the HDMI cable (I know for sure that one works) - didn't fix it.

Swapped the monitors over - didn't fix it but I know the monitor works.

My PC is up to date on updates - nil new updates that I can see between the monitors working and then not working.

I reckon it must be a dodgy HDMI port but I'm not sure how to check that.

I can see the 2nd monitor underneath hidden devices stating that it is currently not connected - it is.

Display adaptor driver is Intel HD Graphics 630

Grateful for any support here guys!

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Strange but the monitor came on by itself a few days later. No changes were made as I had already followed all your steps prior to contacting you.

@LAL03

Thank you for posting back.

Let's try this:

Step 1: Checking the power

Step 2: Displaying a built-in on-screen message

Step 3: Fixing a bad video connection

Step 4: Testing the video connection

Step 4: Connecting the monitor to a different computer

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
