HP OmniStudio X 31.5 inch All-in-One Desktop PC 32-c0000 (9T0F9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Product: HP OmniStudio X 31.5 inch All-in-One Desktop PC 32-c0000.

I wanted to upgrade the factory-installed 1 TB SSD to a Samsung 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD 4TB (MZ-V9P4T0), but HP technical support told me that the maximum SSD upgrade is a 2TB SSD.

However, after more searching about this, Chat GPT provided this reply:
Yes, the HP OmniStudio X 31.5-inch All-in-One Desktop PC 32-c0000, equipped with the Keelung system board, supports M.2 PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe SSDs. While HP may officially list configurations up to 2 TB, the hardware itself does not impose a strict capacity limit. Users have successfully installed 4 TB NVMe SSDs in similar HP systems without issues.

What the Motherboard (Keelung) Actually Supports

Based on the specs and behaviour of modern M.2 NVMe slots using PCIe Gen 4 x4 (which Keelung supports):

  • There is no technical limit at 2TB.
  • M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSDs up to 4TB are fully supported at the hardware level — if they’re single-sided or compatible with your chassis thermals.
  • BIOS/UEFI firmware in modern HP systems (like yours) is capable of addressing 4TB NVMe SSDs.
