Hi, I was given a power supply that has an 8 pin CPU connector but the boad only has a 4 pin. Does anyone know if it is possible to fit the 8 pin only using 4 of the pins or would a molex to 4 pin adapter work better? I just bought a new processor and Video card and I need to up the power supply. I'
the powersupply is a Gamer Storm DQ850-M

In looking at the specs for that power supply, it indicates the CPU power cord as a 1 x CPU 4+4 Pin (700mm). That would seem to indicate that the 4+4 pin connector can be separated into two 4pin connectors. Much the same as the Main Connector: 20+4Pin can be separated into a 20 pin and 4 pin connector.
I'm not an HP employee.
