Pavilion 6727c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am upgrading some of the systems in my Pavilion 6727c and am running low on PCIe slots (in part due to a double-wide graphics card).  There is a small card that was original to the system that has a single wire/(very small cable) that runs to what looks like a switch on the front of the case that detects whether the front cover sliding portion is in the up or down position (i.e. whether the front io is exposed or covered).  Is this card essential (a: to use the system at all, and b: to use the front io)?

In addition to the graphics card, I have a USB 3.0 card that I could potentially port to the front, from an internal connector and would like to install a hardware raid controller due to a recent boot sector failure on my original drive.

Thanks,

Random

Hi:

If you have a Pavilion p6727c, specs below, yes that would be the wireless card you see in the PCIe x1 slot.

The product specs indicate that it comes with a Interface type: PCI Express x1 with one antenna.

Look under the networking specs section.

It is also possible that this is a wireless card (in which case I can remove it, since I _never_ use wireless on my important computers), and the front metal structure is an antenna. If that is known, and or someone (hopefully from HP) could post a picture of it, that would be great.
