Need help 5 beeps.
I am building this machine for use as a media device on my TV. Bought components online used so no warranty and no direct help available from HP.
All components I purchased are exactly according to HP specifications.
I installed the RAM, HDD etc and hooked up in preperation to install an OS but when I turn on I just get 5 beeps/blinks that repeat until I power down. Of course as of this writing the HDD is empty trying to install from an external USB drive which is bootable and has OS installation.
Absent any clue what the beeps mean I don't know where to start to look for a problem.
Since I cannot tell if the beeps have anything to do with a blank drive, perhaps if I removed and formatted first? But that makes no sense because the Win install should detect an empty drive and offer to format anyway.
I have given up on the HP site finding beep codes for this machine as their "instructions" keep taking me in cirles without ever getting to a useful destination. Cannot even determine the MO used in what specifications I can find.
Any help with this most appreciated.

I found that page but did not see any link or list to beep codes.
That said I did find that the RAM was not seating fully and I moved to the lower slot where it clicked in fine and works so the immediate problem is solved. I still will seek a list of those codes for my reference. Happy to see them where you suggested.
I had that manual already but when I first looked for error codes I saw pages of error text messages and since I never got anything at all on screen could not figure out how I was supposed to see text errors? Personally if I were writing that manual I would have placed the beep codes first as those would be the only thing you have to go on if you get nothing on the screen.
Thanks.

You're very welcome.
Chapter 9, page 206...the beep code section starts on page 205 in chapter 9.
Red Power LED flashes five times, once every second, followed by a two second pause. Beeps stop after fifth iteration but LEDs continue until problem is solved.
5 Pre-video memory error.
CAUTION: To avoid damage to the DIMMs or the system board, you must unplug the computer power cord before attempting to reseat, install, or remove a DIMM module.
1. Reseat DIMMs.
2. Replace DIMMs one at a time to isolate the faulty module.
3. Replace third-party memory with HP memory.
4. Replace the system board.
